The Opportunity
We are collaborating with manufacturing firms in Cadillac that are seeking skilled Embedded Systems Engineers. Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and test embedded hardware and firmware for manufacturing equipment and production lines. Implement and optimize real-time control systems for industrial automation and machinery. Debug and troubleshoot embedded systems, including hardware, firmware, and communication protocols, on the factory floor. Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to integrate embedded systems with existing factory automation and IoT platforms. Develop and maintain robust firmware for microcontrollers, FPGAs, and DSPs used in production processes. Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for embedded system failures impacting production. Create comprehensive technical documentation, including specifications, test plans, and maintenance procedures. Recommended Qualifications
Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded firmware development on microcontrollers (e.g., ARM, PIC, AVR), including bare-metal and RTOS environments. Strong understanding of hardware-software integration, including schematic review, PCB debugging, and sensor/actuator interfacing. Experience with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, CAN, EtherCAT, PROFINET) and PLC integration. Demonstrated ability in hardware and software debugging using tools like oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and developing automated test fixtures. Knowledge of manufacturing processes, DFM (Design for Manufacturability), and production line support for embedded devices. Bonus Qualifications
Experience with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, EtherCAT, PROFINET, CAN). Familiarity with PLC/SCADA systems and their integration with embedded devices. Exposure to vision systems or robotics in a manufacturing setting. Understanding of IoT/Industry 4.0 concepts and their application in factory automation.
