Join our team as a Material Handler in Durham, North Carolina, and play a vital role in our supply chain operations. This position is responsible for the movement, storage, and retrieval of materials within our facility. As a Material Handler, you will ensure that all materials are handled safely and efficiently, contributing to the overall productivity of our logistics department. We are looking for individuals with a strong work ethic, a commitment to safety, and the ability to handle various materials. This role offers a great opportunity to work in a dynamic warehouse environment and develop your skills in material handling and logistics. Experience with forklifts or other heavy machinery is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment to move, stack, and retrieve materials.
- Load and unload trucks, ensuring proper securing of loads.
- Transport materials from receiving areas to storage locations and from storage to production or shipping areas.
- Maintain accurate inventory records through diligent scanning and documentation.
- Perform routine checks on material handling equipment to ensure operational safety and functionality.
- Assist with inventory control activities, including cycle counts and stocktaking.
- Ensure that all materials are stored correctly and safely, following established guidelines.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures, including wearing appropriate PPE.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, contributing to overall warehouse efficiency.
- Support the logistics team with any ad-hoc tasks as required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience as a Material Handler or in a similar role is preferred.
- Valid forklift operator certification is a significant advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to perform heavy lifting and manual tasks.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) is a plus.
- Strong understanding of material handling best practices and safety procedures.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Must be able to work flexible hours if needed.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
