Our Chicago, Illinois facility is looking for a dedicated Material Handler to join our expanding logistics team. This role is vital for ensuring the efficient and safe movement of goods within our warehouse. As a Material Handler, you will be responsible for receiving, storing, and distributing materials, playing a key role in our supply chain operations. The ideal candidate is physically capable, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining a safe and productive work environment. Experience with material handling equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks, is highly valued. We emphasize the importance of safety and require the consistent use of appropriate PPE.
Responsibilities:
- Receive and unload incoming materials from various transport methods.
- Safely operate material handling equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
- Organize and store inventory in designated areas, ensuring proper stock rotation and accessibility.
- Pick and stage materials for production, shipping, or other internal transfers.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment and report any defects or maintenance needs.
- Adhere to all company safety regulations, including proper lifting techniques and the mandatory use of PPE.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area.
- Assist with inventory cycle counts and discrepancy investigations.
- Collaborate with other warehouse personnel to ensure seamless logistics operations.
- Follow all work instructions and directives from supervisors.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a Material Handler or in a similar warehouse role is preferred.
- Certification and experience operating forklifts is a strong asset.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Understanding of warehouse safety protocols and the importance of PPE.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Reliability and punctuality.
