We are looking for an experienced Material Handler to join our team in Portland, Oregon. In this role, you will be responsible for the movement and management of materials within our facility, ensuring smooth operations and timely fulfillment of orders. Your duties will include operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise. Accuracy, efficiency, and a strong commitment to safety are essential. Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload materials from trucks and containers.
- Move materials to and from production, storage, and shipping areas.
- Conduct regular equipment inspections and perform basic maintenance.
- Maintain inventory accuracy through proper placement and tracking of materials.
- Ensure a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety regulations.
- Properly use all required PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, and hard hats when necessary.
- Assist with shipping and receiving tasks as needed.
- Follow all company policies and procedures related to material handling and logistics.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Proven experience as a Material Handler or in a similar role.
- Valid forklift operator certification is highly desirable.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting, up to 60 lbs.
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety procedures and protocols.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced logistics environment.
- Must be able to work shifts and potentially overtime as needed.
- Commitment to workplace safety and correct PPE usage.
Working Conditions:
This role requires working in a warehouse environment with exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels. Significant physical exertion, including frequent lifting and operating heavy machinery, is involved. Adherence to all safety protocols, including the consistent use of provided PPE, is mandatory. You are integral to the efficient functioning of our logistics operations.
