We are seeking a meticulous Shipping Clerk to manage and coordinate outbound shipments from our Detroit, Michigan distribution center. This role is vital for the timely and accurate dispatch of goods to our customers and partners. As a Shipping Clerk, you will be responsible for preparing shipping documents, verifying shipment contents, and coordinating with carriers to ensure smooth logistics operations. Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process all necessary shipping documentation (bills of lading, manifests, etc.).
- Verify outgoing shipments against orders for accuracy and completeness.
- Schedule and coordinate pick-ups with various shipping carriers (UPS, FedEx, LTL, etc.).
- Track shipments and provide updates to internal stakeholders and, at times, customers.
- Operate shipping software and warehouse management systems (WMS).
- Ensure proper labeling and packaging of all outbound orders.
- Maintain organized shipping records and filing systems.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including those related to safety and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Communicate effectively with warehouse staff, carriers, and other departments involved in the logistics process.
- Assist with other warehouse duties as assigned, including some light lifting.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a similar logistics role.
- Proficiency with shipping software and common carriers.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
- Ability to perform moderate lifting, up to 30 lbs occasionally.
- Knowledge of warehouse operations and supply chain logistics.
- Commitment to safety best practices.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
