Schedule: Full-Time | Monday-Friday 8am-5pm | With On Call Rotation

Position Summary: Staff Development Nurse ( RN ) 

The Staff Development Nurse (RN) is responsible for the planning, coordination, and implementation of educational programs for nursing staff within a long-term care/skilled nursing facility. This role ensures staff competency, regulatory compliance, and the delivery of high-quality, resident-centered care. The Staff Development Nurse plays a critical role in onboarding, ongoing training, and performance improvement initiatives while supporting a culture of clinical excellence, while also assisting with scheduling for CNAs and nursing staff to ensure appropriate coverage, operational efficiency, and continuity of quality resident care.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Plan, develop, and implement ongoing educational programs for nursing and support staff
  2. Conduct new employee orientation and onboarding
  3. Evaluate staff competencies and coordinate in-service training
  4. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and facility standards
  5. Support infection control and quality assurance programs
  6. Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to nursing staff


Qualifications:

  1. Current Registered Nurse in Alabama
  2. Experience in the long term care or working with the geriatric population as a Staff Development Nurse is highly preferred.
  3. Must have at least three years nursing experience
  4. Clerical ability is necessary to read reports and utilize data accurately for other purposes.
  5. Skill in organizing and planning programs and managing personnel to provide nursing service for residents.
  6. Ability to plan and direct the department, coordinating with other departments.
