The Office of the Secretary of State is recruiting to fill a permanent full-time Information Technology Specialist II position in the Executive Division. The Secretary of State's office (SOS) comprises nearly 750 dedicated public servants who uphold the rights of Californians while also making our government, history, and businesses both accessible and transparent. Led by an elected leader accountable to the public, the staff at SOS work to ensure our office is a reflection of the people we serve daily. The SOS is located in downtown Sacramento near Light Rail, Downtown Commons (DOCO), Golden 1 Center, and other amenities.
Under the administrative direction of the Information Technology Manager II, the Information Technology Specialist II (ITS II) performs advanced, complex technical work in support of the Information Security Section's cybersecurity, risk management, and compliance activities.
The ITS II will assist and collaborate with the Information Security Officer (ISO) in the creation of IT security policies, managing information security and awareness training, conducting risk assessments, and compliance reporting to the California Department of Technology (CDT). The ITS II ensures the organization's information assets are protected from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, destruction, or theft. The ITSII is also responsible for promoting the organization's awareness of information security issues.
The ITS II will collaborate with the Information Technology Division, Risk, Audits, & Investigations Bureau, and the Executive Division to support the information security section and assist in developing security policies and standards to maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the Secretary of State's (SOS) information assets.
Desirable Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or in any engineering field preferred Strong leadership skills in highly complex environments that have competing priorities and demands Effective written, verbal, interpersonal, and analytical skills Certified information systems security professional (CISSP) Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) At least one year as a security analyst. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills especially in diagnosing application

Working Conditions
This job advertisement indicates whether this position is eligible for telework.
