Job Summary:
We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Receiving Clerk for our facility in Madison, Wisconsin. This role is essential for accurately documenting and managing the inflow of goods into our warehouse. You will be the first point of contact for incoming shipments, ensuring that all items are received, inspected, and processed correctly. A commitment to accuracy and efficiency is key to success in this logistics-focused position.
Responsibilities:
  • Unload incoming shipments from trucks, verifying contents against purchase orders and shipping documents.
  • Inspect goods for damage, shortages, or discrepancies, and document findings.
  • Accurately record received items into the warehouse management system (WMS).
  • Tag and label received goods appropriately for tracking.
  • Organize and stage incoming inventory for put-away by other warehouse personnel.
  • Communicate effectively with suppliers, carriers, and internal departments regarding receiving issues.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized receiving area.
  • Adhere to all company policies and safety procedures, including those related to Lifting and material handling.
  • Ensure proper use of PPE when handling shipments.
  • Assist with inventory cycle counts as needed to ensure data accuracy within our logistics framework.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in receiving, inventory control, or a similar warehouse role preferred.
  • Proficiency in using computers and basic WMS software.
  • Strong data entry skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including standing, walking, and occasional Lifting of up to 40 lbs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Knowledge of basic safety procedures in a warehouse environment.
  • Understanding of the logistics process from receiving to distribution.
  • Reliability and punctuality are essential.
