Job Description At General Motors, we are at the forefront of redefining mobility through innovative vehicle design and technology. We aim to create experiences that are not just seen, but profoundly felt. Our mission is to transform what is currently unachievable into tomorrow's standard, integrating cutting-edge hardware, battery advances, intuitive software, and next-gen safety and entertainment features. Our products are designed to daily transport millions, making driving safer, smarter, and more connected while shaping the future of transportation globally. Role Overview: Are you eager to impact the future of autonomous driving? Become part of the Embodied AI Infra Foundation team at General Motors, where we construct essential infrastructure that empowers every machine learning engineer working on our innovative Autonomous Driving models. From foundational frameworks to state-of-the-art model optimization, the infrastructure we build is central to our mission. About the Team: Our straightforward objective is to significantly enhance the machine learning development cycle, allowing our engineers to concentrate entirely on improving vehicle safety and performance rather than managing complex infrastructure. We are dedicated to providing products that are high-performing, user-friendly, and exceptionally reliable. Your success will be gauged by how well our partner teams thrive using the robust systems we develop to create the most advanced driverless vehicles globally. What You'll Do: Lead the design, implementation, and deployment of scalable platforms and tools that facilitate machine learning model training and evaluation workflows throughout GM. Oversee complex technical projects from inception to completion, making key architectural decisions and technical trade-offs. Contribute significantly to team planning, design reviews, and code quality. Take a comprehensive view of projects, assessing their impact across various teams, and proactively drive technical prioritization. Collaborate closely with partner teams to maximize the benefits from the systems we build. Play an integral role in shaping our team through technical interviews, maintaining high standards, and assisting in recruitment. Mentor and onboard junior engineers and interns, fostering their career growth. What You'll Bring: 3+ years of experience in building large-scale distributed systems/applications or advanced machine learning applications. A proven history of developing robust frameworks with high-quality, durable APIs. A strong understanding and practical experience with machine learning algorithms. Expertise in constructing reliable, highly performant, and cost-efficient systems utilizing modern cloud infrastructure. Hands-on experience with the complete machine learning development lifecycle and MLOps practices. Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate across multiple teams and organizations. Proficiency in using containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes. A strong passion for self-driving technology and its transformative potential. Exceptional programming skills in Python or C++. A BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience. Exceptional Candidates May Also Have: Experience with distributed training methodologies. A background in optimizing model training performance. Experience scaling model training across extensive clusters of GPUs/CPUs or other accelerators. Familiarity with deep learning frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow. A strong understanding of performance profiling and state-of-the-art training optimization algorithms, including their performance characteristics and effects on model convergence. Experience with advanced build systems like Bazel, Buck, Blaze, or CMake. Remote/Hybrid:
This role is primarily remote, but if you are located within a 50-mile radius of an office, you are expected to be present at that location at least three times a week. Compensation:
The salary range for this position is $153,200.00 to $234,100.00, based on applicable state laws and the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate. Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance. Benefits: General Motors provides a variety of health and wellbeing benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, retirement savings plan, and more. Relocation:
This position may be eligible for relocation benefits. #GM-AV-1 #LI-CX1 About GM: We envision a world with Zero Crashes, Zero Emissions, and Zero Congestion, and we believe it is our responsibility to lead the change to make our world better, safer, and more equitable for everyone.
