Senior Performance QA Engineer
PRIMARY PURPOSE
:
As a member of Bill ReviewIQ's Development team, the Senior Performance QA Engineer will play a key role in assessing our product suite's viability against defined non-functional criteria, i.e., scalability, endurance, speed and stability under load. This senior role will use modern profiling tools and techniques to optimize performance tests and environments, and will monitor, analyze and advise stakeholders on findings pertinent to ensuring our clients have a positive user experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with globally distributed teams
Work with testers, developers, architects and product managers to develop performance test plans
Develop automated test scenarios for performance testing
Conduct performance testing to ensure system reliability, availability, scalability
Manual test execution as needed based on business and functional requirements
Plan and perform performance profiling strategies. Triage issues on downstream server environments
Analyze performance test results and root causes; coordinate corrective actions and bug fixes
Define, track and report performance-based metrics and SLAs
Implement improvements to existing performance testing procedures, tools and techniques
Maintain currency in performance testing tools and standards. Recommend improvements to existing performance testing procedures, tools and techniques
Perform release level sign-off and provide final performance summary report for release
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs other duties as assigned.
Travel as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Licensing
Master's or bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in Computer Science/Engineering, MIS or related engineering/science fields or related work experience.
Experience
7+ years of work experience in performance testing enterprise applications built using with Java and the J2EE platform, with 2+ years in a performance test leadership position
Skills & Knowledge
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills
Analytical and interpretive skills
Strong time management and organizational skills
Ability to create and complete comprehensive, accurate and constructive written reports
Ability to work in a team environment
Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies
Experience with web UI and web service performance testing techniques and tools (e.g., NeoLoad, JMeter, LoadRunner)
Experience planning and executing performance profiling strategies including implementing improvements to performance testing procedures, tools and techniques
Experience with database testing techniques
Experience with monitoring multi-tiered, enterprise architected applications
Experience with monitoring Windows and Linux operating systems and applications
Experience with programming and scripting languages
Experience with maintaining performance testing frameworks
Experience with Agile Development Methodology
Ability to optimize performance tests against Web applications, both front-end UI as well as back-end databases, application servers, and services
Understanding of software QA processes, methodologies, and tools
Expertise in testing J2EE applications built on Weblogic, Tomcat, Oracle
Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, Prometheus, Jenkins, ELK technologies
Ability to interpret results, identify trends and communicate appropriately
Familiar with DevTestOps practices (e.g., test environment, test data management, Continuous Test practices)
Understanding of software QA processes, methodologies for test and defect management and tools (e.g., Jira)
Good problem-solving and critical thinking skills with an aptitude for learning and implementing emerging technologies
Assume a leadership role while collaborating with peers and executives in designing, executing, triaging and communicating outcomes of complex performance models
