In this pivotal role, you'll spearhead the planning, organization, and administration of enterprise search development, ensuring our digital commerce channels deliver top-notch search experiences for our customers. You'll provide expert technical leadership in crafting and optimizing search platform strategies and operations. This position is located in Springfield, MO. Key Areas of Focus Search Strategy & Planning Craft and implement an enterprise search strategy that aligns with business and customer experience objectives. Develop, measure, and report on metrics to assess the effectiveness and relevance of search results. Analyze search performance and customer interactions to pinpoint optimization opportunities. Search Platform Management Lead the management of enterprise search platforms including Solr, Elasticsearch, and Amazon OpenSearch. Guarantee high availability, scalability, and performance of search environments. Oversee the design of search indices, schema configurations, and query pipelines. Drive initiatives for search relevance tuning, including boosting, weighting, ranking strategies, and synonym management. Monitor platform performance and spearhead troubleshooting and optimization efforts. Essential Job Functions Manage the analysis, design, development, implementation, and testing of search-related applications using established methodologies. Lead multiple development teams to deliver scalable, high-quality search solutions. Provide mentorship and performance feedback to team members while guiding technical direction. Build effective teams, allocate resources, and promote engineering best practices. Lead recruitment, promotion, and performance management initiatives. Accountable for all systems within the search platform domain. Assess project value and prioritize initiatives based on business impact. Collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements, evaluate options, and plan project delivery. Manage capacity planning, resource allocation, and operating and capital budgets. Oversee vendor and contract evaluations. Stay informed of emerging search and cloud technologies. Ensure compliance with development standards, security requirements, and organizational policies. Conduct research, feasibility studies, and technical evaluations. Coordinate work across various application development teams. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Skills Strong background with search platforms, including Solr, Elasticsearch, and/or Amazon OpenSearch. Proven expertise in search relevance tuning, query optimization, and performance monitoring. Solid understanding of information retrieval principles and search algorithms. Engineering experience primarily in Java, with Python as a plus. Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP. Proficiency in DevOps practices and tools like Docker and Kubernetes. Experience managing cloud-based search platforms. Strong skills in problem-solving, communication, and project management. Desired Skills Experience with e-commerce or enterprise-level search platforms. Advanced education or certifications in project management or leadership. ITIL certification is a plus. Education Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. Experience 12+ years of software development and/or technical leadership experience. Demonstrated experience leading application development teams focused on search platforms.
