The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Information Technology Division (ITD) is seeking a senior SQL Server database administrator to join the Oracle/SQLServer Database Administration Team in the Enterprise Data Management section. The selected candidate will administrator & support Oracle databases throughout the agency.
The selected candidate have: • \tExpertise working as an Oracle & SQLServer DBA • \tExpertise working with SQL clustering, mirroring and high availability • \tExperience working with large Oracle and/or SQL databases • \tExpertise in writting PL/SQL and Transact SQL • \tExperience working with advanced PL/SQL collections (bulk,collections,arrays,cursors) • \tExperience tuning Oracle and/or SQLServer databases • \tExpertise in installing, upgrading, patching and migrating Oracle & SQLServer databases • \tExperience working on Windows & Linux environments • \tExperience working with SSIS & SSRS • \tMonitor databases to maintain/ensure database uptime and availability. • \tTroubleshoot application/database issues related to connectivity, access, security and etc... • \tTune long running SQL using AWR/ASH/ADDM/Profiler and etc... • \tReview & refine existing database tasks and processes to better align with agency/group priorities. • \tLeverage & utilize cron and O/S scripting in support of database maintenance/diagnosis/support • \tReview the existing database implementation and propose, execute, and/or direct necessary changes. • \tPerform SQLServer installations (2012,2014 w/ failover clustering) • \tSupport SQLServer databases (administration, support, tuning) • \tKnowledgeable of data modeling principals
Be expected to... • \tRely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. • \tIndependently perform a variety of complicated tasks. • \tWork with a team of Oracle& SQLServer DBAs. • \tCommunicate clearly and effectively, both speaking and in writing.
Qualifications: • \tAt least 3 years of experience of mixed Oracle/SQLServer database experience • \tBachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other applicable and/or equivalent skills, knowledge and/or work history. • \tDemonstrated experience in communicating effectively using standard requirements and design artifacts
