Trace Systems is seeking a Certified Network Defender / Network Engineer to join our team supporting mission-critical operations at MacDill AFB, FL. This position supports the Global Solutions Management - Operations II (GSM-O II) program within the Joint Communications Support Element (JCSE). JCSE provides en-route, early-entry, and scalable Command, Control, Communications, and Computer (C4) support to Regional Combatant Commands, Special Operations Command, and other government agencies worldwide. In this role, the candidate will be responsible for ensuring system security compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) and JCSE requirements. The selected individual will perform system assessments, support cybersecurity engineering efforts, and provide hands-on technical expertise in securing enterprise environments. Responsibilities Provide system administration support across multiple platforms including Linux, Windows, firewalls, Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS), and endpoint security solutions. Install, configure, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot cybersecurity systems in both classified and unclassified environments. Implement and enforce network security monitoring policies and procedures utilizing DoD-approved IDPS tools. Perform continuous monitoring and analysis activities using IDS/IPS sensors and other network monitoring systems. Detect, analyze, and respond to anomalous network activity in accordance with established procedures. Review system and network logs to identify potential threats and unauthorized activity. Investigate, document, and escalate cybersecurity incidents following RMF and DoD guidelines. Coordinate with government stakeholders to refine monitoring strategies and improve detection capabilities. Conduct proactive threat hunting to identify advanced, persistent, and low-visibility network attacks. Share threat intelligence and significant findings with the CND/IA community. Ensure all incident response actions are fully documented and completed prior to closure in compliance with federal and DoD regulations. Minimum Qualifications Active, in-scope US Government issued Secret clearance. Due to the nature of the work and US Government requirements, US Citizenship is required. Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in Cybersecurity. Must possess a DoD-8570 IAT Level II baseline certification (e.g., Security+ CE or equivalent) at the time of start. CSSP Analyst certification (e.g., CEH, Security+, CCNA Security, or equivalent) Desired Qualification Experience supporting DoD or joint service environments Familiarity with RMF (Risk Management Framework) Hands-on experience with enterprise security tools and SIEM platforms Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in cyber threat detection and response Education Associates degree Trace Systems Inc. was founded to support and defend our nation's security interests at home and abroad-- whenever and wherever.
