The Medical Data Analytics Manager is a vital role within the Medical Excellence & Operations team in Global Medical Affairs. This position will act as the data and analytics lead, ensuring operational excellence across the Global Medical Affairs organization. You will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and translating data into actionable insights that inform medical strategies, field engagement, performance measurement, and overall medical strategy. Key Responsibilities: Data Collection, Management and Governance:
Identify, collect, integrate, and clean data from multiple sources including field medical engagement data, MSL CRM, publications, congresses, and medical inquiries. Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of data within medical systems such as Veeva CRM, publication databases, and analytics platforms. Collaborate with IT and Data Governance to automate data pipelines and enhance data availability. Organize data into optimal structures that accommodate cross-functional and cross-process needs. Support audit readiness by maintaining documentation related to data definitions, sources, and analytical methods.
Medical Insights and Stakeholder Analytics:
Generate actionable insights to inform medical strategies, therapeutic focus areas, and priorities for medical evidence generation. Evaluate key medical activities and identify opportunities for improvement based on data patterns. Engage with the External Engagement & Field Excellence team to segment and profile key opinion leaders (KOLs) using data-driven methods. Work with global and regional medical teams to optimize field resource deployment and outreach strategies.
Medical Operations and Performance Management:
Collaborate with colleagues to define and track core metrics for key activities such as medical plans, publications, and advisory boards. Align with Medical Leadership to implement performance indicators for strategic decision-making. Design standardized KPI frameworks to ensure consistency across regions and medical business units. Prepare performance dashboards and insights summaries for senior leadership to support decision-making.
Insights Reporting and Communication:
Develop interactive dashboards and reports to communicate trends, engagement metrics, and insights to leadership and stakeholders. Collaborate with the Field Excellence team to train stakeholders on the use of dashboards and analytical tools.
Continuous Improvement and Process Optimization:
Identify inefficiencies in data workflows and propose automation strategies to streamline processes. Optimize dashboard structures and explore innovative solutions for analytics and reporting. Recommend or pilot new technologies to enhance analytics capabilities. Contribute to innovation initiatives in automation and predictive analytics within Medical Affairs.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Collaborate with various stakeholders including Medical Operations, Clinical, HEOR, Commercial Analytics, and IT to share insights and establish analytics processes. Ensure data quality and compliance across systems and present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Life Sciences, Health Informatics, or a related field is required; a master's degree or equivalent is a plus. A minimum of 5 years of experience in data analytics, with at least 3 years in the pharma or biotech industry (preferably in Medical Affairs, Clinical, or HEOR roles). Expertise in analytical and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Python, SQL). Experience managing large datasets and developing dashboards that influence strategic decisions. Familiarity with Medical Affairs systems (e.g., Veeva CRM, publication management) and compliance principles. Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders. Skills and Competencies: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven record of impact. Understanding of various data environments relevant to medical and clinical operations. Technical proficiency in data analytics and an understanding of medical affairs objectives. Excellent project management and organizational abilities.
