Join Our Team as a Tutor at Holdsworth School!

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? At Polaris Education - Holdsworth School , we are looking for a dedicated Tutor to join our vibrant community in Burnley, Lancashire. Our school is a nurturing environment for pupils aged 5 to 18 with complex needs, and we believe in empowering every child to thrive academically and emotionally.

About Us

With a capacity for up to 48 pupils, we pride ourselves on creating a safe and supportive atmosphere where every child feels valued and respected. Your Role

As a Tutor, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the wellbeing and academic readiness of our students. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the improvement of wellbeing, resilience, and behaviour management.
  • Collaborating with the education team to remove barriers to learning.
  • Promoting positive learning behaviours among young people.
  • Leading classes during PPA and absence cover, with planning support from teaching staff.
  • Delivering enrichment activities during golden time.
  • Assisting in lessons to support academic understanding and emotional needs.
  • Responding to immediate concerns and clarifying situations.
  • Creating and collating information related to lessons and interventions.
  • Preparing information for meetings about pupils.
  • Advocating for the ethos of Holdsworth School.
  • Leading on Reading and Phonics, reviewing progress made by students.
  • Developing the role of Pupil Voice and liaising with SLT about the Pupil Council.
  • Building relationships with parents/carers and actively participating in transitions and consultations.
What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you should have:

  • A strong educational background, with at least GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, such as HLTA.
  • Experience working with pupils with SEMH in an educational setting.
  • Confidence to take on additional responsibilities in areas like Food Hygiene, Forest School, or School Yoga.
  • Experience in behaviour management techniques.
  • A commitment to professional development and a willingness to learn.
