Are you ready to take the lead in a dynamic manufacturing environment? At our Glasgow facility, we design and produce the renowned Waukesha Bearings and Inpro/Seal ranges of components. As the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, you will play a pivotal role in directing and managing our manufacturing and process engineering functions. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, you will guide a talented team in creating and planning CNC programs, coordinating tooling and fixturing, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Your ImpactOur facility boasts a diverse array of multi-axis machine tools, lathes, mills, grinders, and more. We specialize in high-mix customized fluid-film bearings, seals, and isolators, serving customers across Europe and beyond. Here’s what you’ll bring to the table:
- Progressive Experience: A solid background in precision engineering, managing all aspects of a Manufacturing Engineering Department.
- CNC Programming Expertise: Proficient in offline CNC machine programming for complex components using advanced milling and turning technologies.
- CAD/CAM Knowledge: Familiarity with software like featureCAM, GibbsCAM, Vericut, or similar tools.
- Strong Skills: Excellent planning, organizational, analytical, communication, and collaboration abilities.
- Leadership Qualities: Proven success in team leadership and people management.
- Change Facilitator: Ability to drive change using Lean tools and Continuous Improvement techniques.
In this role, you will:
- Lead the Manufacturing Engineering team in creating and planning all CNC programming within set timelines.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize manufacturing designs.
- Provide guidance and support on manufacturing issues to production and engineering teams.
- Foster a positive and motivating work environment, directing activities and enhancing team skills.
- Develop and execute KPIs to drive departmental performance and meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals.
- Proactively address issues related to BOM, routing, and CNC programs.
- Specify tooling types and liaise with purchasing on suppliers.
- Encourage continuous improvement by actively participating in and promoting team involvement in process enhancements.
