Provide direct nursing care to the residents. Prepare and administer medications as ordered by the physician and approved by the state board. Assist supervisors in the care and management of the unit. Such care must be in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our facility, and as may be required by the DON, Supervisor, or Charge Nurse to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.

Responsibilities:

  • A certified medication aid shall administrator prescription medications as approved only at the delegation of the nurse
  • Ensure that an adequate supply of floor stock medications, supplies, and equipment are on hand to meet the nursing needs of the residents
  • Participate in the development, maintenance and implementation of the facility’s quality assurance program for the nursing service department
  • Participate in surveys (inspections) made by authorized governmental agencies
  • Make daily rounds of your unit to ensure that nursing service personnel are performing their work assignments as delegated by the charge
  • Accurately document in the clinical record administration of medication or refusals by patient
  • Inform nursing personnel of new admissions, their expected time of arrival, room assignments, etc.
  • Arrange for diagnostic and therapeutic services, as ordered by the physician, and in accordance with our established procedures.
  • Ensure that your unit's resident care rooms, treatment areas, etc., are maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • State Tested Medication Aide having passed an approved course in medication administration
  • Passed the state written test with a current Ohio Board of Nursing Medication Administration Aid certification
  • Must maintain CPR certification
