LOCATION: NEWINGTON, CT. This is a 100% in-person position based in Newington, Connecticut
WORK SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday; 8:30 am - 5:00 pm
COMPANY OVERVIEW
Data‑Mail is a large, full‑service direct mail lettershop providing end‑to‑end mail production services for clients nationwide. We operate complex, high‑volume production environments and rely on accurate, timely data to drive operational efficiency, quality, and decision‑making across the organization.
POSITION SUMMARY
Data‑Mail is seeking a Business Intelligence Developer to design, develop, and support data solutions that transform operational and financial data into actionable insights. This role will work primarily within the Microsoft development stack, leveraging Power BI, SQL Server, and C#/.NET using Visual Studio to build dashboards, reporting solutions, and supporting services.
The ideal candidate is hands‑on, technically strong, and comfortable working close to the business—partnering with operations, finance, and IT to deliver reliable analytics in a fast‑paced production environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Business Intelligence & Reporting
Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports to support operational, financial, and executive reporting
Build and optimize Power BI semantic models, DAX measures, and data visualizations
Work with stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable BI solutions
Data Engineering & SQL Development
Develop and optimize SQL Server queries, views, stored procedures, and ETL processes
Ensure data accuracy, performance, and reliability across reporting systems
Troubleshoot data issues and proactively improve data quality and consistency
Application & Service Development
Develop supporting C#/.NET components and services used in data integration, automation, or reporting workflows
Maintain and enhance existing internal tools using Visual Studio
Integrate BI solutions with internal systems and production platforms
Collaboration & Process Improvement
Partner with business users to understand workflows and identify reporting opportunities
Document BI solutions, data definitions, and technical designs
Follow best practices for version control, testing, and deployment
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Strong experience with Power BI (datasets, reports, DAX, Power BI Service)
Advanced SQL Server skills, including performance tuning and complex query development
Experience developing in C#/.NET using Visual Studio
Solid understanding of relational data modeling and reporting best practices
Ability to communicate technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in manufacturing, production, logistics, or operations‑driven environments
Strong understanding of finance and job‑costing concepts, with experience analyzing job‑level profitability, cost drivers, and financial performance in an operational or production environment
Experience with or interest in leveraging AI‑assisted tools (e.g., copilots, code assistants, or analytics features) to improve productivity, data analysis, or development workflows
Familiarity with ETL tools, data warehousing concepts
Experience working with large or complex transactional datasets
Knowledge of source control systems (e.g., Azure DevOps)
