School Caretaker

Basic Salary: £26,402

Contract: Full Time (38.5 hours per week; Part-time considered)

North Lakes Children's Services is a well-established local provider of residential care and education for boys aged 7-18. We focus on improving resilience, self-esteem, and abilities in all the young people we work with. Our school proudly holds the Accredited SILVER Award for Attachment and Trauma Sensitivity and received an Outstanding rating from Ofsted in 2014.

As a School Caretaker, you will play a vital role in ensuring our school environments are clean, safe, and welcoming. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Maintaining clean, safe, and secure school premises, including buildings and grounds.
• Performing cleaning, handy person activities, routine maintenance, and minor repairs.
• Supervising school cleaning staff and promoting health and safety.
• Carrying out porterage duties, such as moving furniture and equipment.
• Reporting any issues to the Head Teacher and maintaining the general premises.
• Arranging larger repairs and obtaining quotes from contractors.
• Conducting daily cleaning and ad-hoc duties, including litter picking.
• Ensuring the security of the school premises as the main key holder.
• Performing regular health and safety checks and maintaining safety equipment.
• Providing safe access to the school during cold weather conditions.

To thrive in this role, you should have:

• Previous caretaking experience within a school environment.
• Experience in building maintenance and security systems.
• A solid understanding of health and safety regulations.
• Basic DIY skills and good interpersonal abilities.
• Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
• A full driving license and access to your own car.
• A willingness to travel between both school sites.
