We are excited to invite a passionate Deputy Manager to join our established 4-bed home in Barnsley!
Main Purpose of the JobAs our Deputy Manager, you will play a vital role in supporting the Registered Manager with the daily operations of the home. Your focus will be on delivering high-quality care while promoting the rights, wellbeing, and individual needs of each young person in line with our organizational policies. You will lead and guide our dedicated staff team, ensuring that our practices meet all legislative, safeguarding, and regulatory standards.
Main Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for Service and Practice- Ensure high-quality care across both homes, adhering to legislation, safeguarding requirements, and organizational policies.
- Maintain compliance with Health and Safety legislation and ensure staff are well-trained.
- Support accurate record-keeping for young people and staff, contributing to monitoring and quality assurance systems.
- Promote effective childcare practices through continuous improvement initiatives.
- Prepare for and participate in internal and external meetings, chairing when necessary.
- Participate in the on-call rota and provide sleep-in cover as needed.
- Produce clear, evaluative reports to uphold regulatory standards.
- Take on operational decision-making responsibilities in the absence of the Registered Manager.
- Assist in the recruitment of staff, ensuring all safer recruitment checks are completed.
- Support the induction, supervision, and appraisal of staff in line with expectations.
- Facilitate staff development by ensuring training and CPD requirements are met.
- Help maintain effective rotas and oversee staff expenses.
- Conduct investigations into complaints and disciplinary matters as per policy.
- Support budget monitoring and financial processes to ensure effective resource use.
- Report and follow up on maintenance issues to keep both homes safe and compliant.
- Represent the organization positively in all external interactions.
- Liaise with commissioners and the referrals team regarding placements and admissions.
- Commitment to delivering high-quality care and education.
- Experience in leading or managing a team.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection.
- Minimum Level 3 Children & Young People qualification.
- Level 5 Leadership & Management, or willingness to complete.
- Understanding of the needs of vulnerable young people.
- Ability to build effective relationships with young people, colleagues, and external agencies.
- Emotional resilience when working with challenging behavior.

- Full UK driving licence and access to transport.
- Flexible, reliable, and eager to contribute to organizational development.
- 25 days of annual leave plus Bank Holidays.
- Up to £35 on-call payments.
- 39 hours full-time, with sleep-in duties as per the home’s rota.
- Some office days required for administrative duties.
- Petrrol Allowance for using your own car (proof of business insurance required).
- Pension in line with the organizational Pension Scheme and government guidance.
