About the SchoolLocated in Andover, Hampshire, Lyttelton House School is designed to accommodate up to 60 pupils, providing a safe and supportive environment for children aged 5 to 18 with a range of complex needs. Role ResponsibilitiesAs a Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Mentor and support one pupil or a small group of no more than six pupils.
- Assist the Classroom Teacher during lessons.
- Report on pupils' progress and concerns, liaising with other school staff to ensure pupils' needs are met.
- Supervise pupils during non-classroom time, including extra-curricular activities and school trips.
- Assist with lesson planning and classroom preparation.
- Set work where appropriate and mark assignments.
- Build positive relationships with pupils to drive interaction and positive learning outcomes.
We are looking for candidates who:
- Have a strong basic education, ideally to A-level, with a minimum of GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics, along with sound IT skills.
- Possess previous experience in a similar role, such as a Teaching Assistant.
- Have experience working with pupils with SEMH within an educational setting.
- Are confident in taking additional responsibilities in areas like Food Hygiene, Forest School, Lunchtimes, or School Yoga.
- Have experience in behaviour management and techniques.
- Are committed to professional development and eager to learn.
- Are willing to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check prior to commencing work.
