Join our bustling logistics team as a Shipping & Receiving Associate in New York City, New York. This critical role ensures the smooth flow of goods in and out of our facility. You'll be responsible for meticulously handling inbound and outbound shipments, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring the timely and safe delivery of products. Responsibilities:
- Unload and receive incoming shipments, verifying contents against purchase orders or invoices.
- Inspect all incoming and outgoing goods for damage or discrepancies.
- Accurately record all received and shipped items using our inventory management system.
- Prepare outgoing shipments, ensuring proper packaging, labeling, and documentation.
- Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently (certification may be required).
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shipping and receiving area.
- Coordinate with carriers and drivers to schedule pickups and deliveries.
- Assist with inventory management tasks, including cycle counts and stock organization.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, including the proper use of PPE.
- Communicate effectively with internal departments and external partners regarding shipment status.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Proven experience in shipping/receiving or a related warehouse role.
- Proficiency in using warehouse management software and other relevant technology.
- Demonstrated ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Knowledge of shipping procedures and documentation.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and following safety guidelines.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
- Understanding of logistics principles is beneficial.
Working Conditions:
This position operates in a busy warehouse setting. Employees are required to wear specified PPE, including safety shoes and vests. Frequent lifting and moving of heavy items are part of the daily duties. This role is essential to our supply chain operations.
