We are seeking a meticulous and organized Shipping Clerk to manage outbound shipments for our busy logistics hub in New York City, New York. This critical role ensures that all outgoing orders are processed accurately, documented correctly, and prepared for timely dispatch. You will be responsible for coordinating with carriers, verifying shipping details, and maintaining accurate shipping records. The ideal candidate possesses strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a thorough understanding of shipping procedures. Adherence to safety protocols and proper use of PPE are paramount in this role. Join our dedicated logistics team and contribute to the efficient movement of goods.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process shipping documentation, including bills of lading and shipping labels.
- Coordinate with freight carriers to schedule pickups and track shipments.
- Verify accuracy of outgoing orders, ensuring correct items and quantities are shipped.
- Inspect packages for proper packaging and labeling before dispatch.
- Maintain accurate records of all shipments, including tracking information and delivery confirmations.
- Communicate effectively with internal departments and external carriers regarding shipment status.
- Assist in resolving shipping-related issues and discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with all company and regulatory shipping requirements.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and utilize appropriate PPE during all warehouse activities.
- Participate in inventory checks and assist with other warehouse duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree in a related field is a plus.
- Proven experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a similar logistics role.
- Proficiency with shipping software and carrier platforms.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with WMS (Warehouse Management Systems).
- Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 30 lbs occasionally.
- Commitment to safety and proper use of PPE.
