JOB TITLE: Business Intelligence Engineer - IoT Networking LOCATION: Foster City, CA PAY RANGE: $90 - $100/hr. DURATION: 6 Months
TOP 3 SKILLS:
6+ years of relevant experience in Computer Science, Applied Math, Engineering, Statistics, or related fields, with strong proficiency in SQL and dbt. Expertise in data visualization and modeling, including building dimensional models and creating dashboards using tools like Looker. Proven collaboration skills to work with IoT Networking and Engineering teams and deliver actionable, high-impact data solutions.
Job Description: As the Business Intelligence Engineer for IoT Networking, you will be embedded within the connectivity team to translate complex telematics and cellular data into actionable business intelligence. You will be directly responsible for building the data infrastructure that monitors network performance, asset traceability, and cost efficiency for our mission-critical vehicle fleet.
Key Responsibilities:
Connectivity Data Strategy: Partner directly with IoT Networking and Engineering teams to define and implement Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for 4G/5G SA network health, Private APN performance, and overall vehicle connectivity quality. Data Pipeline Ownership: Develop, implement, and manage robust and scalable ETL pipelines. This includes the ingestion, transformation, and modeling of high-volume, real-time data from various sources: Telematics Control Units (TCUs) and test devices, carrier connectivity logs, and provisioning systems. Performance Monitoring & Reporting: Develop and maintain critical visualizations and dashboards using tools like Databricks or Looker that provide real-time insights into:
Network availability, latency, and throughput Carrier cost analysis and spend optimization Connectivity usage trends across the fleet
Deep Dive Analytics: Conduct complex ad-hoc analysis to troubleshoot network anomalies, diagnose recurring connectivity failures, and investigate data usage irregularities. Documentation: Maintain thorough documentation for data models, schema, and metric definitions, ensuring data literacy across the organization.
Required Qualifications:
Background/knowledge in Computer Science, Applied Math, Engineering, Statistics, or relevant industry experience with 6+ years of experience. Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Looker. High proficiency in SQL and dbt. Experience building dimensional models. Strong collaboration skills with stakeholders to deliver impactful data solutions.
Bonus Qualifications:
Dbt Certification Experience working with Airflow Analytics Engineering background Background in Analytics Engineering focusing on infrastructure, networking, or telecommunications data
