Über
Senior Sybase Database Administrator / Engineer Location:
Reston only, Hybrid 3 days on / 2 days off Duration:
12 Months with extension
Experience & Skills Required: 10+ years of hands-on Sybase Database Administration experience with
Sybase ASE (Adaptive Server Enterprise)
and
Sybase Transact-SQL . 10+ years of experience supporting Sybase hosting on
Linux environments , both
on-premises and AWS cloud . Strong expertise in: AutoSys scheduler Replication setup High Availability (HA) Troubleshooting complex issues Performance debugging Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) Encryption implementation
Hands-on experience with
Sybase database upgrades and migrations
across different Linux versions in AWS cloud. Experience with
automation
using
Unix Shell scripting
and
Python . Proficiency in automating database functions such as
backup, monitoring, and configuration
in AWS cloud. Solid experience in
production support . Detail-oriented with strong
problem-solving skills . Excellent
communication, time management, and technical presentation
skills. Ability to manage
multiple projects simultaneously . Experience providing
consulting services
to internal customers and stakeholders. Responsibilities:
Perform
high-complexity system-level analysis, design, development, and unit testing
of software applications based on user requirements and design documents. Resolve defects during various testing cycles. Skills & Knowledge: Proficiency with the
Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) . Solid knowledge of programming languages, application servers, database servers, and system architecture. Current programming language expertise to meet business needs. Knowledge of one or more of the following:
J2EE, Java, EJB, ASP, PowerBuilder, C, C++, SQL, CGI, Windows, NT, Visual Basic, Oracle, Sybase, MQ Series.
Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in
Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field . Professional certifications are a plus. 10+ years of
software development experience
across relevant platforms. Solid IT background with experience as an
application developer on similar projects .
