Elmy Hall School, located in the heart of Northwich, Cheshire, is looking for a dedicated Tutor to join our vibrant community. With a capacity for up to 100 pupils aged 5 to 18, we provide a safe and supportive environment for students with complex needs. Your RoleAs a Tutor, you will play a crucial role in supporting our students' personal and academic development. Your responsibilities will include:
- Enhancing wellbeing, readiness for learning, resilience, and behaviour management.
- Collaborating with the Education team to remove barriers to learning.
- Promoting positive learning behaviours among students.
- Leading classes during PPA and absence cover, with planning support from teaching staff.
- Delivering enrichment activities during golden time.
- Assisting in lessons to support academic understanding and emotional needs.
- Responding to immediate concerns and clarifying situations.
- Creating and collating information related to lessons and interventions.
- Preparing relevant information for pupil meetings.
- Advocating for the ethos of Elmy Hall School.
- Leading on Reading and Phonics, reviewing student progress.
- Developing the role of Pupil Voice and liaising with SLT about the Pupil Council.
- Building relationships with parents/carers and actively participating in transitions and consultations.
To thrive in this role, you should meet the following requirements:
- A strong educational background, with at least GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics.
- Previous experience in a similar role, such as HLTA.
- Experience working with pupils with SEMH in an educational setting.
- Confidence to take on additional responsibilities in areas like Food Hygiene, Forest School, Lunchtimes, or School Yoga.
- Experience in behaviour management techniques.
- A commitment to professional development and a willingness to learn.

As part of our commitment to safeguarding, the successful candidate will be required to complete an enhanced DBS Check, the cost of which will be covered by Polaris Community.
