One to One Teaching Assistant

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? At Apple Orchard , we specialize in supporting adolescent males with complex needs stemming from early trauma. Our mission is to foster growth and help each individual reach their transitional milestones in a nurturing, trauma-informed environment.

We are excited to invite a dedicated One to One Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic team. This full-time position runs from Monday to Friday, 08:30 - 16:30 , during term time only. While primarily based at our main site, you may also support students at local PE venues and, eventually, in college settings.

As a One to One Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Collaborate with the Headteacher and class teachers to align with our therapeutic approach.
• Support pupils in learning effectively, both individually and in groups, by:
• Clarifying and explaining instructions.
• Ensuring access to necessary equipment and materials.
• Motivating and encouraging pupils through personalized attention and support.
• Assisting in areas such as speech and language, reading, spelling, numeracy, and handwriting.
• Using praise and constructive feedback to keep pupils engaged and focused.
• Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals on Individual Personal Education Plans (PEPs).
• Provide additional nurture and support as needed.
• Implement agreed behavior management strategies consistently.
• Build supportive relationships with pupils to promote acceptance and inclusion.
• Monitor and adapt learning activities to meet intended outcomes.

To thrive in this role, you should have:

• A minimum qualification of GCSE A-C or equivalent in Maths and English .
• A Level 3 or above Teaching Assistant qualification.
• An understanding of the challenges faced by students with Emotional, Behavioural, or Social needs.
• The ability to work collaboratively within a close-knit team.
• Desirable: Experience in a specialist educational environment.

This is a 12-month fixed-term contract , term time only, based in Horsham, West Sussex . You will be part of a supportive team dedicated to making a positive impact on our students' lives.
