Residential Childcare Support Worker

Contract: 35 hours per week plus sleep-in shifts

Salary: Basic salary of £22,367.80, with potential earnings up to £27,983.80 including sleep-in shifts

Are you a committed and enthusiastic individual looking to make a real difference in the lives of young people? LCS is on the lookout for passionate Residential Childcare Support Workers to join our team! You’ll work full-time, 35 hours a week, plus 2 sleep-ins, with opportunities for additional hours.

Your role will involve working on a rota basis, which may include evenings and weekends. Flexibility in your availability is essential!

As a Support Worker, you will engage, motivate, and encourage young people in their individual flats or shared houses. Your responsibility is to ensure a safe, welcoming, and healthy environment for the young people you support.

Duties will include:

• Providing practical support and guidance aligned with individual care plans to help young people develop essential life skills and achieve educational success.
• Building positive relationships with young people, staff, and professionals through effective communication.
• Supporting young people in Education, Employment, and Training, documenting their progress and submitting evidence to instructors.
• Maintaining community links, such as educational provisions, sports centers, and youth clubs.

All applicants must have:

• Flexibility for shift work, including sleep-in nights, evenings, and weekends.
• A Residential Childcare/Families Practitioner Diploma, Children and Young People's Workforce, NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care, or a willingness to pursue this qualification.
• Experience with attachment and trauma is desirable.
• Experience with challenging behavior and/or mental health issues is desirable.
• An understanding of the challenges faced by young people in care.
• A full driving license and access to a vehicle is preferred, though good public transport links are available.
• Intermediate computer skills.
