An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to join our team at DBFL in the role of Structural Engineer.
The successful candidate is expected to be autonomous and familiar with current codes of practice. They must demonstrate a level of responsibility taken on projects from details design through to supervision of work on site with a knowledge of building control regulations and procedures.
Key roles and responsibilities
- Preparing preliminary scheme design options for discussion and approval.
- Producing structural design calculations and drawings to Eurocodes and Irish Building Regulations.
- Reviewing drawings and designs from other members of the design team and external consultants.
- Site inspections involving inspecting steel reinforcement prior to concrete pour and general workmanship on site.
- Daily problem solving in order to produce safe, economical, and structurally viable design solutions.
- Liaising with clients, design team and contractors and supporting the growth and the development of the Team.
- Perform other duties as required.
Desired qualifications and requirements
- Minimum of 3rd level qualification in Civil or Structural engineering.
- Preferably chartered or near chartered with a minimum of 5 years’ experience.
- Advanced knowledge and experience using AutoCAD.
- Hands‑on experience using several construction methods and materials.
- Great analytical and mathematical skills to conduct accurate calculations.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Strong work ethic and dedicated to tasks with a positive attitude.
- Flexible approach and the ability to adapt to a new and evolving environment.
