We are seeking a diligent Shipping Clerk to join our team in Richmond, Virginia. As a Shipping Clerk, you will play a vital role in ensuring that all outgoing shipments are accurate, properly documented, and dispatched on time. This position is crucial for the efficiency of our logistics department. You will work closely with carriers and internal teams to manage the shipping process effectively. Maintaining a safe and organized shipping area, adhering to all safety protocols and using necessary PPE , is paramount. This role involves handling packages, requiring some lifting .
Responsibilities:
- Prepare shipping labels and documentation accurately.
- Coordinate with shipping carriers for pickup and delivery schedules.
- Verify contents of outgoing shipments against orders.
- Pack orders securely and appropriately for transit.
- Maintain organized records of all shipments.
- Communicate with warehouse staff and other departments to ensure timely dispatch.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the mandatory use of PPE .
- Contribute to the overall efficiency of warehouse logistics by managing outgoing flow.
- Operate basic warehouse equipment as needed.
- Perform tasks that involve standing, walking, and some lifting of packages up to 30 lbs.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in shipping, logistics, or a related administrative role is preferred.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications and data entry.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with shipping procedures and basic logistics .
- Commitment to workplace safety and proper use of PPE .
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
