We are seeking a diligent and efficient Shipping Clerk to join our logistics team in Chicago, Illinois. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately preparing and documenting all outgoing shipments. Your duties will include verifying order details, ensuring proper packaging, generating shipping labels, and coordinating with carriers. A strong understanding of shipping procedures and attention to detail are crucial for success. This is a vital position that ensures our products reach our customers on time and in perfect condition. Responsibilities:
- Receive and verify shipping orders, ensuring accuracy of items and quantities.
- Package products securely and efficiently for shipment, selecting appropriate materials.
- Generate shipping labels and prepare necessary documentation, such as bills of lading and customs forms.
- Coordinate with common carriers and freight forwarders to schedule pickups and track shipments.
- Maintain accurate records of all shipments, including tracking numbers and delivery confirmations.
- Communicate with other departments to resolve any shipping-related discrepancies or issues.
- Ensure compliance with all shipping regulations and company policies.
- Operate shipping equipment, such as scales, printers, and label applicators.
- Uphold a strong commitment to safety, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and adherence to safe work practices.
- Assist in maintaining an organized and clean shipping area.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a related shipping/logistics role.
- Proficiency in using shipping software and common carrier websites.
- Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of shipping procedures, documentation, and logistics.
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
- Commitment to workplace safety and the use of PPE is essential.
