Our Durham, North Carolina facility is looking for a skilled Material Handler to join our logistics team. This role is crucial for the efficient and safe movement of materials throughout our warehouse. As a Material Handler, you will be responsible for operating forklifts and other equipment to transport, load, and unload materials, ensuring they are staged correctly for production or shipment. The ideal candidate has experience with various types of material handling equipment, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. You will play a key role in maintaining inventory flow and supporting overall warehouse operations. Accurate handling and placement of materials are essential to prevent damage and ensure operational efficiency. Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment to move, stack, and arrange materials.
- Load and unload trucks efficiently and safely.
- Transport materials from receiving to storage areas, and from storage to production or shipping docks.
- Verify the accuracy of material counts and identify any discrepancies.
- Ensure materials are stored correctly and securely to prevent damage.
- Assist with inventory management, including cycle counts and stock rotation.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the warehouse, particularly in material handling areas.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including the proper use of PPE.
- Perform routine checks on material handling equipment to ensure operational readiness.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards immediately.
- Support warehouse operations by fulfilling material requests as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a Material Handler or Forklift Operator is required.
- Valid forklift operator certification (or willingness to obtain certification).
- Proficiency in operating various types of forklifts and other warehouse equipment.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety protocols and the importance of PPE.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a demanding logistics environment.
- Good communication skills.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
