As a Platform Engineer, you'll be an essential part of a multidisciplinary team that includes Architects, AI Engineers, Designers, and Business Technology Leaders. Your Role and Responsibilities As a Platform Engineer in IBM Client Engineering, you'll help to accelerate client transformations by delivering unique co-creation experiences. Your involvement will span from identifying requirements to making impactful technical decisions. You'll engage with cross-functional teams to enhance our hybrid cloud and AI solutions and demonstrate their business value. Your primary responsibilities will include: Cloud Expertise:
Utilize your knowledge of hybrid cloud technologies, including AI, analytics, DevOps, security, and storage, while understanding the intricacies of your clients' businesses. Value Communication:
Clearly articulate the distinct value of IBM’s technologies, both technically and commercially. Technical Leadership:
Lead client sessions focusing on a range of public and hybrid cloud technologies such as Red Hat OpenShift and IBM Cloud Paks. Solution Support:
Contribute to solution architecture as a hands-on builder, advising on best practices for our clients' target environments. Transition to Deployment:
Ensure a smooth transition for clients by collaborating with deployment teams on production deployment of platform assets. To succeed in this role, you will need: Confidence in engaging potential clients and delivering exceptional experiences. Motivation to achieve sales goals and foster high client satisfaction. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an agile approach. A curious mindset with a desire for growth. This position requires you to be in one of the following IBM offices: Chicago IL, New York NY, Raleigh NC, San Francisco CA, and Washington DC. You should be prepared to travel up to 50% annually. IBM will not provide visa sponsorship for this position. You must be eligible to work without current or future visa sponsorship to be considered. Required Technical and Professional Expertise Technical Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field/experience. Programming:
Working knowledge of at least one cloud-native programming language (Java, Python, HCL, Rust, Ansible, etc.). Tech Savvy:
Familiarity with cloud technology and industry trends, and their applications in business. Team Player:
Ability to collaborate and adapt communication styles within the team. Excellent Communication Skills:
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal abilities that engage and influence. Self-Starter:
A motivated individual with a growth mindset, able to lead projects independently. Highly Desirable Experience with deploying and operating solutions on AWS, Azure, IBM Cloud, or Google Cloud, along with relevant technical certifications (CNCF, AWS, IBM Cloud, Azure, Google Cloud, DevOps) are an advantage.
