We have an exciting new opportunity at PCE for a Project Design Manager to work as part of our Design team.
The Project Design Manager will fully responsible for all aspects of PCE design delivery on their project(s).
Summary
Contract: Permanent
Location: Tamworth, Head Office
The role is hybrid and work can be carried out where it will have the most impact for PCE and the project delivery. That could be at Head Office, the project site, client design offices, factories or at home.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities including but not limited to:
Design
Create and manage design programme and outputs based on overall project programmes, ensure they are monitored and managed weekly.
Manage design change, scope drift, variations, deviation from specification and payment against programmed deliverables.
Manage the creation and development of models, calculations, drawings, sketches and schedules for project delivery, all in accordance with internal systems.
Manage all digital aspects of design and all systems pertaining to control of design information within PCE.
Manage BIM deliverables throughout all projects, ensuring Clients BIM Execution plans are fully complied with.
Manage project IRS schedule and RFI’s, ensure project RFI’s are closed out and programme and cost implications are controlled.
Control the project CDM and H&S requirements with particular emphasis on PCE temporary works and the safe construction of all associated works.
Provide support to the Pre-Construction team develop Stage 3 deliverables during early stages as necessary.
Collaboration
Meet the client’s needs and expectations, understand their drivers and communicate to all PCE project team.
Develop strong lasting relationships with the Client, Project and Design teams.
Create a confidence in PCE and our project team.
Effective and clear communication of divisional and project objectives/deliverables to all members of the PCE team. Successful communication is key to the role.
Hold weekly project design meetings with PCE design team, review work completed and set clear goals for planned work, ensure everyone is working to 1 plan and there is total clarity.
Hold key stage Design Review meetings as project progresses, ensure all key stakeholders attend and provide input.
Support the commercial function with change and scope drift, ensure there are no surprises internally and with the client, keep both up to speed at all times.
Hard copies containing personal data must be shredded or stored according to GDPR
Attend all project team meetings to report on design progress and quality conformance.
Strategy
Establish PCE's project design delivery strategy with Design Director and Project Manager, monitor and manage as project progresses, challenge and improve as necessary as project progresses.
Control lessons learnt and ensure improvements and solutions are fed back into the PCE business for ongoing improvements.
Reporting
Issue weekly design reports to client and PCE internally, outline all aspects of delivery, status, blockers, issues, resource plans etc.
Issue weekly design output trackers, programme updates and resource plans to ensure effective
Quality
Ensure all design outputs for all documents meet PCE quality standards and benchmarks.
Ensure design teams both internally and externally fully check all documents prior to release, where required provide evidence.
Ensure all model data is correct and reviewed for completeness with PCE and client digital platforms.
Hold yourself accountable for all information `right first time`.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND BEHAVIOURS
Managing a design team.
Managing the design process, using commercial, programme and technical expertise.
Supporting, understanding, and advising the client as to the requirements of their obligations in the development of design.
Ensuring the design process recognises current legislation, standards and codes of practice.
Ensuring the BIM strategy is current and followed along with best practice and ‘What good looks like’.
Ensuring the design information is of the right quality and keeps pace with project timescales.
Strive to eliminate Health and Safety risks in the design.
Acts with professionalism and integrity always.
Displays and promotes PCE’s leadership core values; Humble, Hungry, Honest & Smart.
Promotes the Company in a professional manner, in line with PCE values at all times.
