Overview
Tech(x) is seeking a skilled System Administrator to support the many information systems and teams under the Tech(x) operation. This position is responsible for maintaining, securing, and optimizing enterprise network and server infrastructure that supports operational and program requirements.
The selected candidate will perform systems administration across Windows and/or UNIX/Linux environments, ensuring systems are properly configured, secured, and compliant with DoD cybersecurity and information assurance standards. The role requires hands-on experience managing server infrastructure, monitoring system performance, implementing security controls, and supporting end users in a secure government environment.
The System Administrator will work closely with network engineers, cybersecurity personnel, and program leadership to ensure reliable system operations and mission continuity.

Responsibilities
Administer and maintain Windows and/or UNIX/Linux server environments, ensuring systems operate reliably, securely, and efficiently. Install, configure, patch, and upgrade operating systems, server applications, and system software in accordance with organizational and DoD security policies. Monitor system performance, server health, and network connectivity using enterprise monitoring tools and system logs; proactively identify and resolve performance issues. Implement and maintain system security configurations, user permissions, and access control policies in compliance with DoD cybersecurity requirements. Perform system hardening, vulnerability remediation, and patch management to maintain compliance with security baselines and accreditation requirements. Manage Active Directory or enterprise identity management systems, including account provisioning, group policy configuration, and role-based access control. Support the configuration and integration of network infrastructure components, including routers, switches, firewalls, and secure enclaves when required. Maintain system documentation including standard operating procedures (SOPs), configuration baselines, and change management records. Perform routine system backups, restoration testing, and disaster recovery procedures to ensure continuity of operations. Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network-related issues affecting servers, workstations, and peripheral devices. Provide technical support for desktop and laptop systems, including hardware configuration, operating system support, and enterprise application troubleshooting. Assist in system testing, upgrades, and deployment of new technologies within the enterprise environment. Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure systems meet RMF / DoD Information Assurance requirements. Participate in configuration management and change control processes for system modifications and updates. Provide support during system outages, incident response, and maintenance windows as required. Perform additional duties as assigned in support of program and mission objectives. Other duties as assigned Qualifications • 3-5 years of experience administering enterprise Windows and/or UNIX/Linux systems in a professional IT environment. • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking fundamentals, system administration principles, and enterprise server environments. • Experience managing and maintaining:
Server infrastructure Operating systems and system services System performance monitoring tools Security configurations and authorization profiles • Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity requirements, information assurance practices, and secure system configuration standards. • Experience implementing and maintaining backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures. • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex system and network issues across hardware, software, and operating systems. • Experience supporting enterprise desktop environments, including laptops, workstations, and printers. • Ability to develop and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and configuration baselines. • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Clearance:
Able to obtain a DoW Secret level security clearance.
Education & Experience:
A bachelor's degree. A preferred degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or other Engineering or Technical discipline. 3 additional years of applicable experience as a System Administrator with appropriate certifications may be substituted for the degree. Certifications:
4 years of direct relatable experience can be substituted for a bachelor's degree. Location:
210 Research Blvd., #350, Aberdeen, MD. 21001 This is a hybrid remote position based on the government customer's approval. Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Schedule flexing is available with the PM's approval.
