We are seeking an experienced
Contract Project Manager
to lead a critical data center migration and infrastructure deployment initiative. This role will be responsible for managing the full lifecycle of the migration project, including planning, execution, vendor coordination, risk management, and executive reporting. The Project Manager will develop and maintain a comprehensive project plan that outlines milestones, dependencies, and critical path activities while ensuring the overall schedule aligns with operational targets and key business blackout periods. Responsibilities include coordinating cage construction, equipment delivery, rack and stack activities, and final cutover planning. The role will also lead weekly status meetings, maintain migration runbooks and rollback procedures, and drive action items to resolution to ensure project milestones remain on track.
This individual will serve as the primary point of coordination between internal technical teams and external vendors, managing relationships with providers responsible for cage buildout, circuit delivery, and cross-connect provisioning. The Project Manager will oversee risk management through the maintenance of a detailed risk register, ensuring mitigation strategies are in place and escalations occur proactively when needed. The role also requires close coordination with compliance and operations teams to ensure all migration activities align with
PCI DSS Level 1 and HIPAA requirements , including adherence to audit schedules and change management processes. Additional responsibilities include coordinating data migration schedules across infrastructure platforms, facilitating application validation and user acceptance testing with business stakeholders, and managing active/passive failover testing to confirm recovery objectives and operational readiness.
The Project Manager will also maintain oversight of the project budget, tracking spend related to co-location facilities, circuits, cross-connects, and overlapping infrastructure costs. Regular executive status reports will be produced to provide leadership with clear updates on project health, including schedule, risks, and financial tracking. The role requires strong experience managing infrastructure initiatives that support high availability environments with strict uptime requirements, as well as the ability to translate complex technical activities into clear updates for executive stakeholders.
Required Qualifications 7+ years of IT project management experience, including at least 3 years supporting infrastructure or data center initiatives Proven experience managing
data center migrations, co-location deployments, or large-scale infrastructure buildouts Strong understanding of data center operations including power, cooling, rack/stack processes, cross-connects, and carrier coordination Experience working in
PCI DSS and/or HIPAA regulated environments Demonstrated ability to manage multiple vendors and external partners across complex technical initiatives Experience with project planning, change management processes, and enterprise project management tools Strong communication skills with the ability to present project status and technical details to executive leadership Experience managing projects with
high availability requirements (99.99% uptime) and zero-downtime migration objectives
