Job Description Software Engineer - Embedded C/C++ (Linux Applications) "MUST BE LOCAL TO THE JOB SITE"
We are seeking a skilled Embedded Software Engineer (C/C++) with strong Linux application development experience to support, calibrate, and test software used in advanced infrared sensing systems. This role is hands on, highly technical, and central to ensuring the performance and reliability of the clients production systems.
Contract: Right to Hire Location: Goleta, CA 93117 Pay Rate: $75/hr Citizenship Requirement: U.S. Citizen (required per defense contract)
What You'll Do
* Design and develop software for production support tools and embedded systems. * Participate in the full software lifecycle: requirements review, design, coding, unit testing, integration, and sustaining engineering. * Support calibration, testing, and validation of infrared sensing hardware. * Work closely with hardware engineers to understand system behavior and ensure seamless hardware/software interaction. * Build, configure, and maintain toolchains, development environments, and debugging setups. * Contribute to improving test efficiency and reducing overall test time.
Required Qualifications
* U.S. Citizen (US Passport or ID and Birth Certificate required to interview) * BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related field * 4+ years of experience with C, C++, and/or C# * Strong Linux application development background * Experience with Visual Studio * Experience working with SQL Server * Ability to understand both hardware and software components of embedded systems * Strong knowledge of hardware subsystems and peripheral buses (I2C, SPI, USB) * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Ability to set up toolchains, build environments, and use debugging tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.)
Highly Desired Experience
* Testing equipment in thermal chambers * Embedded, multi threaded software development (e.g., embedded Linux, RTEMS) * Infrared or visible imaging technologies, image acquisition, or image processing * Testing high volume production hardware * Designing software that improves or accelerates test workflow
