The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation is dedicated to advancing the education of exceptionally promising students who have financial need. Since 2000, the Foundation has awarded $332 million in scholarships to nearly 3,900 students from 8th grade through graduate school, along with comprehensive educational advising, career counseling, and other support services. The Foundation has also provided $144 million in grants to organizations that serve such students.
The Foundation is seeking motivated college students for a full-time, paid summer internship (late May through mid-August, minimum 350 hours). Interns work alongside staff on meaningful, real-world projects and gain hands-on experience inside a national nonprofit organization. This opportunity is a strong fit for students interested in marketing, communications, data analysis, operations, or project and program management.
Information Technology Intern Role
The Information Technology Intern is responsible for providing administrative and project support for the JKCF IT department. The intern will assist with projects including routine IT tasks, ticketing support and resolution, and documenting processes. The intern will provide other administrative support as requested for the IT team.
Principal Responsibilities
The job description may change based on the potential intern's area of interest and expertise. Assist with routine system maintenance tasks. Document processes, system configurations, and troubleshooting steps to enhance IT operations. Participate in IT projects. Assist with IT inventory tracking and obsolescence determination Assist with equipment database maintenance Assist with ticketing support and resolution Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements Currently attending a post-secondary institution, in an undergraduate or graduate program currently pursuing a degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field of study. Strong written and oral communication skills and interpersonal relations. Basic understanding of networking principles Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Positive team player eager to take initiative on multiple projects. Strong attention to detail & organizational skills. Access to personal transportation/housing is required.
Location and Type of Work
This position will primarily work from our headquarters office in Lansdowne, Virginia, to maintain a connection to their colleagues and foster a sense of cross-functional collaboration. Our permanent hybrid work schedule is Tuesday and Wednesday in-office, with some flexibility to work remote on other days.
