Quality Assurance Engineer
to become an integral part of our team. In this role, you will ensure that machined components and assemblies adhere to stringent quality standards as defined by specifications, procedures, and drawings. You will play a crucial role in documentation support, troubleshooting, and non-conformance tracking, directly influencing the reliability and performance of mission-critical hypersonic defense systems. This fast-paced environment requires exceptional attention to detail, self-direction, and strong teamwork. Key Responsibilities: Support manufacturing, assembly, integration, and testing within the aerospace and defense sectors. Engage in site quality planning, analyze program Quality Assurance (QA) requirements, create inspection and test procedures, and develop process plans while coordinating nonconformance documentation reviews and supporting root cause/corrective action efforts. Participate actively in site quality planning initiatives. Analyze QA requirements and assist in creating inspection checklists. Contribute to process development to ensure quality attributes are integrated into process plans and work instructions. Review and approve new and revised drawings. Review and approve newly revised process plans. Conduct quality inspections on components, subassemblies, and finished assemblies. Document nonconforming materials and facilitate material reviews and dispositions. Assist in collecting Quality Metrics. Collaborate with internal teams and site leadership to identify and resolve corrective actions and improvement opportunities, ensuring they are completed promptly as per Leidos policies. Ensure compliance with AS9100, customer, and regulatory standards. Document nonconformances and work closely with engineering for final dispositions. Support the execution and documentation of internal quality audits, reporting results and findings. Guide teams in establishing root cause analyses and corrective actions for audit findings and requirement escapes. Lead initiatives for process improvement. Basic Qualifications: Must be a U.S. Citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain at least a DoD Secret clearance. Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of relevant experience or a master's degree with 2+ years. Additional experience may substitute for a degree. Experience in working with non-conforming materials, conducting failure analysis, and implementing corrective actions. Proficient in writing work instructions and procedures, particularly related to AS9100 Quality Management System (QMS) documentation. Able to review and interpret contract quality clauses and technical data to develop appropriate quality verification procedures, plans, and work instructions (including AS9102 First Article Inspection documentation). Familiarity with Microsoft Windows and Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is desirable. Demonstrated effective communication skills within a team environment. Ability to function in a collaborative engineering atmosphere, working closely with cross-functional teams. Competent in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, CAD models, specifications, and contract quality requirements, as well as conducting reviews and approvals of AS9102 First Article Inspection materials. Capability to lift and carry items up to 35 lbs. Must either reside in or be willing to relocate to the Colorado Springs area. Preferred Qualifications: Current U.S. Citizen with an active DoD Secret clearance or higher. Experience in reviewing contracts, statements of work, and performance specifications. Certification as an ASQ Certified Quality Engineer. Certification as a Six Sigma Green or Black Belt. Background in hardware manufacturing environments. Familiarity with Windchill PLM, Solumina MES, and Costpoint systems. Experience inspecting complex aerospace hardware and participating in Material Review Board (MRB) processes. Knowledge of AS9102 First Article Inspection and Acceptance Data Pack creation and review. Understanding of AS5553 counterfeit prevention practices. $59,150.00 - $106,925.00 This salary range is a general guideline and not a guarantee of compensation.
