The PCAS department is seeking a skilled software engineer specializing in embedded control for innovative algorithm development in various electromechanical control systems. Your Responsibilities: Design, implement, and verify motor control embedded firmware for current and future Control Actuation Systems.
Develop and integrate digital control algorithms in C/C++, collaborating with the Controls and Algorithms team.
Work closely with mechanical and electrical design engineers to optimize hardware solutions.
Your Learning Opportunities: Engage in hands-on hardware and firmware integration and verification testing in a lab environment.
Gain a solid proficiency in C/C++ development and experience with MATLAB/Simulink, while collaborating with electrical and mechanical hardware.
Mentor and guide early career engineers, sharing your expertise and knowledge.
Required Qualifications: A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
At least 8 years in code design, development, and/or verification.
Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance prior to the start date.
Preferred Qualifications: Proficiency in C/C++ development on various embedded hardware platforms.
Experience in model development and data analysis using MATLAB/Simulink.
Background in developing firmware for safety-critical environments, including requirements traceability, design documentation, static code analysis, and testing.
A foundational understanding of configurable logic (FPGA firmware) and VHDL.
Experience implementing digital control algorithms in hardware, including microcontrollers, DSPs, and FPGAs.
Understand serial communication interfaces and analog to digital converters.
Familiarity with digital and analog signal electronics design, development, and verification.
Experience using software/firmware configuration management tools like GIT or Subversion.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to collaborate in a team environment.

The salary range for this role is $107,500 - $204,500, based on various factors including experience, location, and skills.
