Position Summary
The Data Engineer, Data and Cloud Platforms supports RS21's continued growth in Professional Services and Data Readiness by designing, building, and maintaining scalable, cloud native data solutions for client delivery and internal initiatives.
This role is focused on establishing and operating modern data platforms that enable analytics, reporting, and advanced data use cases. As RS21 continues to expand its data readiness offerings, this position helps build a strong engineering bench capable of supporting diverse client environments and evolving technical demands.
As a member of RS21's technical staff, the Data Engineer partners closely with Technical Managers, Project Managers, and cross functional teams to deliver reliable, well architected data solutions aligned to client needs and RS21 best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Data Engineering and Pipelines
Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines from source systems to analytics and reporting layers. Support batches and stream data workflows across diverse client environments Develop and maintain ETL and ELT processes with a focus on data quality, reliability, and performance. Implement monitoring and observability practices to ensure pipeline health andtimelyissue resolution. Cloud Data Platforms
Architect and implement data solutions using cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, with AWS as the primary environment. Support the development of data lakes, data warehouses, and analytics platforms. Partner with cloud and DevOps teams to ensure secure, scalable, and cost-effective deployments. Contribute to infrastructure as code and automation practices where applicable. Data Readiness and Client Delivery
Support client engagements focused on data readiness, analytics enablement, and platform modernization. Translate business and technical requirements into practical and scalable data architectures. Assess existing data environments and recommend improvements aligned with analytics and reporting goals. Contribute to repeatable frameworks, patterns, and accelerators that strengthen RS21's data readiness offerings. Collaboration and Technical Excellence
Work closely with Technical Managers and Project Managers to support successful project execution. Collaborate with analytics, visualization, and downstream data consumers to ensure data usability and reliability. Document data architectures, pipelines, and implementation decisions. Contribute to the continuous improvement of RS21's data engineering standards and best practices. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in data engineering, computer science, or. related field. 3-6 years of experience designing and operating data pipelines in cloud environments. Hands on experience with cloud data services and platforms, with AWS preferred. Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, ETL and ELT patterns, and analytics workflows. Experience working with structured and semi-structured data sources. Ability to reason through data architecture tradeoffs and scalability considerations. Strong communication skills and comfort working in client-facing environments. Experience supporting professional services or consulting engagements. Familiarity with real time or near real time data pipelines. Experience with SQL based analytics and data transformation frameworks. Exposure to DevOps practices, CI CD pipelines, or infrastructure automation. Cloud certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect or Data Engineer.
