*Overview*
We are seeking an experienced *Data Center Designer with RCDD certification* to support the design and planning of a *data center relocation project*. The selected candidate will be responsible for creating a new data center layout and supporting the planning of *cable and fiber relocation* for approximately *14 racks* as part of the move.
The role will focus heavily on *infrastructure design, layout planning, and structured cabling architecture*, ensuring the new environment supports scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency.
*Scope of Work: Data Center Layout Design*
* Design a new *data center room layout* for the relocation project
* Develop *multiple design options* including:
* Low-tier design
* Mid-tier design
* High-tier design
* Ensure layouts support optimal airflow, rack placement, cable pathways, and future scalability
* Provide recommendations on best practices for data center infrastructure planning
*Cabling & Fiber Planning*
* Plan *structured cabling and fiber relocation* for approximately *14 racks*
* Design cable pathways and routing strategies
* Identify required cabling infrastructure for the new layout
* Ensure designs align with industry standards and structured cabling best practices
*Documentation & Planning*
* Produce detailed documentation including:
* Rack layout diagrams
* Cable pathway designs
* Fiber routing plans
* Equipment placement diagrams
* Provide recommendations to improve efficiency, redundancy, and organization
* Collaborate with project managers and infrastructure teams to finalize the design
*Implementation Support*
* Provide guidance during the *deployment phase*
* Assist with validating that installation aligns with the approved design
* Address design questions or modifications as the project progresses
*Required Qualifications*
* *RCDD Certification – Required*
* Proven experience designing *data center infrastructure and layouts*
* Strong understanding of:
* Structured cabling systems
* Fiber infrastructure
* Rack design and placement
* Data center best practices
* Experience supporting *data center moves, expansions, or redesigns*
* Ability to produce clear technical documentation and diagrams
* Strong collaboration and communication skills
*Preferred Experience*
* Experience designing *Enterprise data center environments*
* Familiarity with *data center tier models and redundancy planning*
* Experience working with relocation or migration projects
*Additional Information*
* Initial focus will be *design and planning*, with the goal of completing the design phase by *May*.
* The *deployment phase will occur during the summer*.
* Consultant may be asked to provide periodic guidance throughout the installation phase.
Job Type: Temporary
Pay: $83.00 - $88.00 per hour
