The Database Solutions Architect will be essential in enhancing Airworthiness and Flight Clearance systems by ensuring optimal database integrity, performance, and security across both Oracle and SQL Server environments. This role encompasses designing, developing, and refining database solutions, reducing risks related to code modifications, and working collaboratively with developers, IT personnel, and clients. This is a hybrid position based at Patuxent River NAS. Key Responsibilities: Utilize Toad and SQL Server Management Console for performance tuning.
Design data models and create Entity-Relationship Diagrams (ERD).
Write and enhance SQL and PL/SQL for Oracle and SQL Server.
Review and optimize procedures and queries for improved performance.
Implement constraints, foreign keys, primary keys, and indexes for data integrity.
Manage version control and deployment processes with GitLab.
Ensure database security through SQL injection prevention, Label Security, Column Security, and STIG compliance.
Support the transition from on-premises solutions to cloud/serverless technologies.
Use dynamic SQL and metadata-driven methods to streamline code development.
Work effectively with cross-functional teams and customers to achieve project goals.
Qualifications: Must have a Secret clearance; Interim Secret required to begin.
Hold a Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of relevant experience.
Substitutions: Associate's degree with 7 years of experience, or 9 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
Experience in designing and developing Oracle and SQL Server databases for application backends is essential.
Strong understanding of Oracle RDBMS concepts is necessary.
Demonstrated skills in performance tuning and query optimization are required.
Familiarity with secure coding practices and compliance standards, including application STIGs, is mandatory.
Knowledge of cloud services, preferably AWS, and experience migrating from on-premises to serverless solutions are vital.
Experience with Toad for Oracle and SQL Server Management Console is required.
Preferred Skills: Experience with GitLab for version control and deployment is highly desirable.

3/9/2026 The compensation for this position ranges from $86,000 to $143,300 USD.
