Are you a skilled operator looking for a challenging role in the logistics sector? Our Chicago, Illinois facility is seeking an experienced Reach Truck Operator to join our dedicated team. In this critical position, you will be responsible for operating a reach truck to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise in the warehouse. This role demands precision, efficiency, and a strong commitment to safety. You will play a vital part in our inventory management and order fulfillment processes, ensuring the smooth flow of goods within our distribution center. Responsibilities:
- Safely operate a reach truck to move pallets of goods throughout the warehouse.
- Load and unload materials from trucks and trailers.
- Accurately place and retrieve inventory from high-level racking systems.
- Conduct pre-operation checks on the reach truck to ensure it is in safe working order.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring safe pathways for equipment operation.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Perform inventory counts and assist in maintaining accurate inventory records.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to management immediately.
- Follow all logistics procedures for material handling and storage.
- Contribute to a positive and productive team environment.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Proven experience operating a reach truck and other powered industrial trucks.
- Valid certification for reach truck operation is essential.
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety procedures and best practices.
- Ability to perform lifting tasks of up to 50 pounds.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced logistics environment.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) is a plus.
