Our Detroit, Michigan facility is looking for an experienced Inventory Control Specialist to join our logistics team. This critical role focuses on ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our warehouse inventory through meticulous tracking, monitoring, and control processes. You will be responsible for conducting cycle counts, investigating inventory discrepancies, implementing corrective actions, and maintaining accurate inventory records within our system. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, analytical skills, and a strong understanding of warehouse operations and inventory management principles. You will work closely with warehouse staff and management to identify and resolve issues that impact inventory accuracy. Safety is a core value, and you will be expected to uphold all safety standards and ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when working in operational areas. While this role is less physically demanding than some warehouse positions, there may be occasional lifting required. Responsibilities:
- Perform regular cycle counts and physical inventory audits.
- Investigate and reconcile inventory discrepancies.
- Implement and maintain inventory control procedures.
- Analyze inventory data to identify trends and suggest improvements.
- Manage stock rotation and ensure FIFO (First-In, First-Out) principles are followed.
- Collaborate with warehouse operations team to resolve inventory issues.
- Ensure accurate data entry and integrity of inventory records in the WMS.
- Monitor warehouse stock levels and report on aging or obsolete inventory.
- Assist in maintaining a clean and organized warehouse environment.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and guidelines, including PPE usage when necessary.
- Support logistics and operational efficiency through accurate inventory management.
- Train warehouse staff on proper inventory handling procedures.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
Proven experience in inventory control or warehouse management.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and inventory software.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs occasionally.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Understanding of warehouse logistics and best practices.
