We are seeking a skilled Reach Truck Operator for our facility in Des Moines, Iowa. This is a critical role within our logistics department, responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a reach truck to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise in the warehouse. The ideal candidate will have proven experience operating reach trucks in a high-volume environment and possess a strong commitment to Safety. You will be instrumental in maintaining organized inventory levels, ensuring product accessibility, and contributing to the smooth flow of operations. This position requires precision, a keen understanding of warehouse layout, and strict adherence to operating procedures. Your ability to navigate narrow aisles and operate at height safely is paramount. We expect all operators to follow company Safety policies rigorously and utilize all required PPE. This is a fantastic opportunity to leverage your skills in a key operational role within the logistics sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate a reach truck safely and efficiently to move palletized goods.
- Put away and retrieve inventory from various rack levels.
- Perform pre-operation checks on the reach truck to ensure safety and functionality.
- Maintain accurate inventory records through system updates.
- Assist with cycle counts and inventory audits.
- Follow all warehouse Safety regulations and operational procedures.
- Wear and maintain appropriate PPE at all times while operating equipment.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns immediately.
- Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
- Must be comfortable with occasional manual Lifting of smaller items, up to 30 lbs.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience operating a reach truck in a warehouse setting.
- Valid certification or license for operating reach trucks (if applicable by local regulations).
- Strong understanding of warehouse Safety practices and procedures.
- Ability to work at heights and in narrow aisles.
- Excellent spatial awareness and hand-eye coordination.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform light manual tasks.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) is a plus.
- Experience with general warehouse logistics is beneficial.
