A lovely high school in Shevington is currently looking for a Design & Technology Technician to join their DT department. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone practical, organised, and interested in supporting students in a creative and hands-on learning environment.
Start Date: 20th April Hours: 8:00am – 3:00pm Pay: £13.69 – £16.52 per hour Duration: Approximately 12 weeks initially, with potential for further opportunities with Bridge Education.
The Role: The DT Technician provides vital technical, practical, and safety support to the Design & Technology department. You will help prepare materials, maintain workshop equipment, and support teachers and students during practical lessons.
Key Responsibilities:
* Preparation & Maintenance: Set up workshop equipment and prepare materials for lessons. Maintain and clean machinery such as saws, laser cutters, ovens, and other DT equipment.
* Health & Safety: Ensure all practical activities comply with Health & Safety regulations and assist with risk assessments.
* Lesson Support: Assist teachers during practical lessons, demonstrate safe use of equipment, and support students with the technical aspects of their projects.
* Stock Management: Order, organise, and keep accurate records of tools, materials, and equipment.
* Workshop Environment: Maintain a clean, organised workshop/classroom and assist with displays of student work.
Requirements:
* Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
* Practical or technical skills relevant to a workshop environment.
* Previous experience in a school or educational setting is desirable.
* A proactive and organised approach with a strong focus on safety.
