We are looking for a skilled Forklift Operator to join our busy distribution center in Detroit, Michigan. In this role, you will be responsible for operating forklifts and other powered industrial trucks to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise. Your expertise will be crucial in maintaining the smooth flow of goods through our logistics network, ensuring efficient loading and unloading of trucks, and managing inventory within the warehouse. Safety is paramount in this role, and you will be expected to strictly adhere to all safety procedures and regulations. This position requires a keen eye for detail, excellent spatial awareness, and a strong commitment to operational efficiency. You will work closely with other warehouse staff and management to ensure orders are fulfilled accurately and on time. Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts safely and efficiently to transport materials within the warehouse.
- Load and unload trailers and containers.
- Move pallets of goods to and from designated storage areas.
- Stack and store materials in an organized and secure manner.
- Conduct pre-operational checks on forklifts to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Assist with inventory management, including cycle counting and stock checks.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety and housekeeping standards.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns immediately.
- Follow all company policies and procedures, including those related to safety and the use of PPE.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve daily operational goals.
Qualifications:
- Valid forklift operator certification and proven experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting, up to 60 lbs.
- Demonstrated understanding of warehouse safety procedures.
- Strong knowledge of logistics and inventory control principles.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to wear required PPE at all times.
