We are looking for a meticulous Shipping Clerk to join our logistics team in Washington, D.C. This vital role ensures that all outbound shipments are processed accurately, efficiently, and in full compliance with carrier and regulatory requirements. Your responsibilities will include preparing accurate shipping labels and documentation, verifying order contents against packing lists, selecting the most suitable shipping carriers and methods, and coordinating timely carrier pickups. Exceptional organizational skills and a keen eye for detail are essential for success, as is proficiency in managing shipping software and maintaining comprehensive records. Maintaining a safe and orderly shipping area is a priority, requiring strict adherence to all company safety guidelines and the mandatory use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The ideal candidate will have previous experience in shipping or logistics, demonstrate excellent communication skills, and be adept at problem-solving. Responsibilities:
- Generate and verify shipping labels, packing slips, and other necessary documentation.
- Confirm accuracy of orders against shipment contents.
- Determine appropriate shipping methods and carriers based on cost and delivery requirements.
- Schedule and manage carrier pickups and deliveries.
- Maintain organized shipping logs and update tracking information.
- Ensure compliance with all domestic and international shipping regulations.
- Keep the shipping area clean, organized, and safe, adhering to all safety protocols and using required PPE.
- Communicate effectively with internal departments and external logistics partners.
- Support overall warehouse efficiency by ensuring timely and accurate dispatch of all goods.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a similar logistics role.
- Proficiency with shipping software (e.g., FedEx Ship Manager, UPS WorldShip) and MS Office Suite.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational capabilities.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
- Understanding of logistics and supply chain principles.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to PPE guidelines.
