Overview
The Workers’ Compensation Case Manager plays a dual role in supporting injured workers throughout the legal, medical, and administrative process. The ideal candidate provides compassionate client support, manages all aspects of case development to advocate for clients under attorney supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Client Support & Communication
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, offering clear guidance on the workers’ compensation process, benefits, and case status.
- Conduct intake interviews, gather relevant facts, and help clients understand their rights and next steps.
- Maintain consistent, empathetic communication to support clients through medical treatment, hearings, and litigation milestones.
- Case Development & File Management
- Collect, organize, and maintain medical records, wage information, and other evidence needed for litigation and hearings
- Track treatment progress, diagnostic results, and provider recommendations to ensure cases remain active and well‐documented.
- Prepare case summaries, timelines, and hearing packets for attorneys and for your own appearances.
Medical Coordination
- Assist clients in scheduling medical appointments, evaluations, and diagnostic testing.
- Monitor treatment compliance and follow up with providers for reports, PR‐2s, and supplemental documentation.
- Coordinate QME/AME evaluations, ensuring clients are prepared and all required documents are submitted.
Claims & Insurance Interaction
- Communicate with claims adjusters to request benefits, authorize treatment, and resolve delays or denials.
- Submit required forms, correspondence, and documentation to carriers and the WCAB.
- Track benefit payments, temporary disability issues, medical authorizations, and utilization review disputes.
Litigation Support
- Assist attorneys with trial preparation, settlement documents, and case strategy.
- Draft letters, declarations, and routine legal correspondence under attorney supervision.
- Prepare files for depositions, hearings, and settlement conferences.
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure all case activity complies with California workers’ compensation laws and WCAB procedures.
- Maintain accurate, organized, and up‐to‐date case files in the firm’s case management system.
- Monitor deadlines, statute issues, and required filings.
Qualifications
Required
- Experience in workers’ compensation case management, preferably in a plaintiff‐side law firm.
- Strong understanding of California workers’ compensation laws, forms, procedures, and WCAB processes.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex processes to clients.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a high‐volume caseload.
- Experience with QME/AME processes, EAMS filing, and hearing preparation.
- Familiarity with legal case management software.
Preferred
- Bilingual abilities are highly valued, particularly Spanish.
- Workers’ Compensation Hearing experience is a plus
